English for Lawyers

English is extremely important as a means of communication between international lawyers and their colleagues and clients. Many experienced lawyers have a good or very good level of English. However, others struggle with the complex terminology and grammatical structures specifically used in legal English.

We can design an English for Lawyers course to suit your precise legal requirements. What’s more, you can choose to study for 25 or 30 hours a week to make the best possible use of your time.

Teachers in the Cambridge Academy Professional Centre have previously worked in the legal profession. Experience and qualifications include Taxation and Revenue Law, Fiscal Studies, tax advice, business analysis, general Law, barrister training and contract Law.

What we say

“If you are an experienced and mature lawyer, you may lack confidence in using both legal and general business English – perhaps you last studied it at school many years ago. We can offer you a great choice: either a 50:50 course where you spend half the day focusing on legal English with our experts, and half the day improving your business communication skills, or an individual course where you can choose how much time you spend on legal matters and how much time (if any) on other skills. This is a fast, intensive way to help you develop your career in international law.”
