Student reflections : CAE in our own words

CAE is truly a magical place. It has a certain atmosphere that makes you want to do better. Children who hate studying are the first to rush into the classroom, children who aren’t exactly fans of sports run the fastest, and children who are weakest in English speak it the most. But this isn’t a short-term change. You come home inspired to continue your journey of learning. It definitely changes you for the better. It’s truly a life-changing experience. Here’s how it turned out for me.

My favourite memory is of the bonfire we had at the end of the course. We roasted marshmallows and watched the shooting stars, chatting about what it’s called in our native languages. I was fascinated, and as soon as I got home, I started reading about it. I became so interested in this topic that I wrote a research paper on the subject and entered it in a competition, where I came third in Kyiv. Later, I participated in an international conference in English, which I couldn’t have done without CAE. Now I’m writing an astronomy article entirely in English. I’m very grateful for the knowledge that made this possible.

CAE pays a lot of attention to sport. I used to really dislike sport and everything to do with it, but after my first course, I joined a gym and am now trying to take up running. CAE has inspired many other students, including me, to try something new.

But what I like most about CAE is its community. The staff, the teachers, the students. Everybody’s so nice, and it truly feels like a family. I met so many great people at CAE, heard so many stories, and made so many friends. I can’t wait for my next time at CAE! Not long now!
