Stansted Airport is 40 minutes away by bus. Gatwick and Heathrow are about four hours away (allowing for heavy traffic).
London’s King’s Cross station is 45-60 minutes away by train and has a direct connection to London City Airport. It is just across the road from London St. Pancras International, so it is easy to travel to us by Eurostar.
There’s a motorway direct to Dover and a good road to Harwich for the ferry to Hook of Holland.
Yes. We can book you a taxi. The driver will meet you at the airport. Prices for taxi transfers from London Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick are on the booking form.
Your learning package includes full board (for clients staying in an executive homestay). This includes a lunchtime meal deal in the Cambridge Academy cafeteria and unlimited tea and coffee in the Professional Centre. Breakfast and evening meal are at your homestay every day. At the weekend lunch is included if you eat with your homestay host(s). If you choose to stay in a bed and breakfast or hotel, you will eat breakfast every day at the hotel and have the lunchtime meal plan on weekdays at the school.
No. However, the small group course combinations are not suitable for beginners or elementary students. We carry out a needs analysis on the first morning to find out your exact requirements, establish your level and discuss how we can best help you.
Yes. We can arrange for you to take exams during or at the end of your course, depending on exam dates. You can practise for your exams while you are here.
We carry out a full needs analysis on your first morning to assess exactly what you need to study, and review your progress throughout your course to check that we are meeting your needs. We continually monitor responses to our courses, and there is a very high level of satisfaction.
It is up to you. Most people stay for two to three weeks. If you can stay for only one week, don’t forget you can combine the course with some one-to-one lessons. Some clients stay for longer, even for eight to 12 weeks!
We organise excursions every weekend, and you can buy train tickets for London from our social activity organisers. Our school study centre is open on Sunday afternoons.
Cambridge is well provided with sports facilities. There are public tennis courts and two public indoor swimming pools. There is a golf course very close to the Academy, and you will have free membership of a local gym.
Yes. If you come in the summer we can provide courses for parents, and there are residential courses for all children over the age of nine. Sometimes students on the Professional Centre courses come with their young adult sons or daughters, who then take Adult courses. Browse the Academy website for more information.
We are open 49 or 50 weeks of the year depending on when Christmas falls. There is a two- or three-week break at Christmas.
No, but with a car you can explore the surrounding area and take trips to the coast. It’s not a good idea to take a car into London – the traffic is heavy, and parking is very difficult. The same is true of Cambridge city centre. Most students manage to travel around the country easily by train. Our social activity organisers can help you plan your trips.
